voters in The us voted on Tuesday 6 November for the renewal of all 435 seats of the House of representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate.

after the election, the democratic Party regained control of the House of representatives, with a net gain of at least 28 seats, while the republican Party increased its majority in the Senate with a net gain of 2 seats at least.

The Congress, which convenes in 2019, will see a record number of women in positions with at least 122 elected. The Americans have so elected, 99 women in the House and 13 in the senate, in addition to 10 others who remain in post. The Congress will, therefore, almost a quarter female.

The last “blue wave” in the House of representatives goes back to the election of Barack Obama in 2009. The democrats won 257 seats. But since 2011, the House was under the domination of the republicans after the first mid-term election of Obama.
