Adrenaline is nothing new for Tom Cruise. For his films, the actor jumps out of planes or even knocks out a tooth himself. There is a special reason why he does this.
Acting star Tom Cruise (59) likes to do stunts in his films himself to make them look more authentic. “I wanted to bring the art form forward,” he said at the Cannes Film Festival when asked why he was taking on the hardships.
“I asked myself: How can I immerse the audience in a film, in this kind of action.” He always wanted to do things like helicopter flying or skydiving. As a four-year-old child, he used his bed sheet as a parachute and jumped off the roof, he said. “And I hit the ground so hard, luckily it was wet,” he said. “And I thought, oh my god, my mother is going to kill me.”
Cruise is considered a perfectionist – many directors who have worked with him have spoken of his special commitment. For example, Francis Ford Coppola said in the past about his collaboration with Cruise in “The Outsiders” that he knocked out a front tooth during the shoot to make it look more authentic. Cruise presented his latest film “Top Gun: Maverick” in Cannes.
