Tom Cruise is touring Europe with his new blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. After Cannes, the premiere rose yesterday in London – with royal guests.

According to his own assessment, US film star Tom Cruise has a lot in common with British Prince William. “We both love England, we’re both pilots, we both love flying,” the 59-year-old actor told the PA news agency on Thursday night at the British premiere of the new ‘Top Gun’ film in London.

Cruise met Queen’s grandson William (39) and his wife Duchess Kate (40), who appeared on the red carpet in a black and white dress by designer Roland Mouret and exchanged views with fans. Their children – George, Charlotte and Louis – are jealous of the glamorous film premiere, William and Kate told some children who came to admire the star-studded cast in Leicester Square in the British capital.

“Top Gun: Maverick” will start in German cinemas on May 26th. The film was previously shown in Cannes. The blockbuster is the successor to the 1986 classic “Top Gun – They fear neither death nor the devil”. Decades later, Cruise reprized his role as former fighter pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell for the sequel directed by Joseph Kosinski.
