Wisdom for all people – that is one of the three wishes that the 61-year-old cherishes. What are the other two?

If the Scottish actress Tilda Swinton had three wishes, she would wish for “wisdom for all people”. The 61-year-old said on Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film “Three Thousand Years of Longing” premiered there, in which she played a leading role. Director George Miller’s work is out of competition. It follows academic Alithea Binnie (Swinton) who discovers a genie (Idris Elba) at a market in Istanbul.

More sleep please!

If she actually met a genie in a bottle – what would she ask for? Meeting director Miller and making this film with him is a dream come true in itself, Swinton said in Cannes. And: «Infinite wisdom for all people and other living beings on the whole planet, that would be good. I don’t know how else we could achieve that, it would be a start. (…) And a little more sleep.»

The second leading actor in the film, Idris Elba (49), answered the same question: “The first thing would be that I would like a better answer to this question.” He also hopes that the audience will take away from the film the message of how important stories are and that we can learn from them. “The third wish would be an electric Ferrari.”

“Three Thousand Years of Longing” received a standing ovation for several minutes after its premiere on Friday evening.
