“I made mistakes”: Frankfurt’s mayor Feldmann is repentant after a sexist saying about flight attendants. The politician, who is suspected of corruption, still refuses to resign.

The Lord Mayor of Frankfurt, Peter Feldmann (SPD), does not comply with the request to resign from his own party.

In a statement on Wednesday, he merely promised to hold back on public appointments and offered to suspend his membership in the SPD.

Feldmann apologized for mistakes in the past few days. Among other things, he addressed allegations in connection with a sexist statement about flight attendants. “Yes, I made mistakes,” said Feldmann, for which he was rightly criticized.

The 63-year-old is accused of corruption in connection with the Awo affair (workers’ welfare) and had also been noticed in the past few days by other slips. A video had appeared in which the mayor spoke of flight attendants on the flight to the Europa League final from Eintracht Frankfurt to Seville, “who put me out of action hormonally at first”.

Feldmann said he was convinced he could prove his innocence.
