Nepal attracts tourists from all over the world – the Himalaya tours are also popular with Germans. Now a plane crashed a few minutes before the scheduled landing.

The Federal Foreign Office has confirmed that there were also two Germans on board the passenger plane that crashed in the Himalayas. They are in close contact with the Nepalese authorities and the relatives and support the relatives consularly, the Foreign Office said on Monday.

In the meantime, 15 bodies have been found at the crash site at around 4000 meters in the foothills of the Himalayas in the Mustang district in the north of the country, said an employee of the on-site rescue team of the dpa. A total of 19 passengers and 3 crew members flew on the plane of the Nepalese airlines Tara Air. The chance of finding survivors is very small, said the employee. The scene is heartbreaking.

Air traffic control lost contact with the machine around 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. The plane was en route from Pokhara – a popular tourist destination around 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu – to Jomsom. Pokhara is the starting point for numerous trekking tours, including the Annapurna Circuit.
