Belarus agreed to purchase Russian oil without a premium to the price

“Belneftekhim” has concluded the first in 2020 the contract for the supply of Russian oil without a premium to the price stated in the message of the Belarusian state-owned companies. Belarus will be supplied petroleum products to the extent that allows to provide non-stop operation of Belarusian oil refineries in January.

“the documents to be processed with a Russian company for pumping the first batch of oil purchased at a price without premium”,— stated in the message. What is the Russian company will supply, “Belneftekhim” not specified.

In turn, the official representative of “Transneft” Igor Demin told Interfax that the application is filed on pumping 133 000 tons of crude oil to the refinery “Naftan”. The Agency source in the industry said about the readiness of the two Russian companies supply oil to Belarus. “The two Russian companies have already confirmed their readiness. Delivery will be at “Naftan” and Mozyr oil refinery”, — he said, without naming the Russian company. According to a source “Interfax”, the delivery of two Russian companies will provide a download of both Belarusian refineries in 9 — 10 days. Earlier, on 4 January, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev discussed with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Rumas cooperation in the energy sphere, reported the press service of the Russian government. A telephone conversation took place on the initiative of the Belarusian side. On New year eve, 30th and 31st December terms of delivery of oil and other raw materials has discussed the presidents of Russia and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.

In turn, Minister of economy of Belarus Alexander Chervyakov has previously urged to look for alternative sources of hydrocarbon supplies in rethe Republic.

From 1 January 2020, the Russian oil companies have suspended oil supplies to Belarus from-for disagreements in the price. According to sources “Interfax”, the Belarusian side sought cancellation of the award to the price of duty-free oil supplies, explaining that the price hike of raw materials due to the implementation in Russia of the tax maneuver in the oil sector. Source RIA “Novosti” said that the price of supplies to Belarus is determined as the market value of the fuel plus a premium, which is about $10 per ton. “Our shippers want to keep her, the Belarusian side insists on the reduction,” he explained.

According to the “Belneftekhim” now the price of Russian oil for Belarus is 83% of global oil prices. Due to the lack of imported oil to Belarus since January 1 has suspended the export of Russian oil products.
