Mr. Teuber, are you the best “Catan” player yourself – or are you sometimes beaten? I’m certainly not the best. At a “Catan” world championship I once had to compete against the three finalists. I play more from the gut, but some follow sophisticated strategies. In the end I finished third out of four.

An island called Catan that you have to colonize as a board player – how did you come up with the idea? When I start developing a game, I want to experience a story in a playful way. In the case of “Catans”, the sea voyages of the Vikings stimulated my imagination and I asked myself: what was it like when they discovered Iceland back then?
