Borussia Mönchengladbach has found a new head coach. Daniel Farke signed a contract until 2025.

Daniel Farke is the new coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 45-year-old signed a contract on the Lower Rhine until 2025. Borussia officially announced this on Saturday. Farke succeeds Adi Hütter, from whom the club separated after the season.

“In Daniel Farke, we were able to sign a coach who fits the path we want to take,” said sporting director Roland Virkus.

Daniel Farke canceled contract in Russia

Farke most recently worked for the Russian first division club FK Krasnodar. He only took office there in January of this year, but resigned in early March as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He had previously worked for Norwich City from 2017 to 2021, guiding the club to the Premier League twice.

In Gladbach, Farke has to stabilize a club in upheaval in terms of sport. After a difficult season, during which long-time sports director Max Eberl resigned due to personal problems, Gladbach is about to start again.

Coach Adi Hütter, whom the foals brought in last year to succeed Marco Rose from Eintracht Frankfurt, was unable to fulfill hopes despite interim highlights such as the 5-0 victory in the DFB Cup against FC Bayern. Gladbach finished tenth in the Bundesliga at the end of the season, and the two sides parted ways immediately after the last matchday.

After that, ex-Gladbach coach Lucien Favre was the favorite to succeed Hütter for a long time, but the Swiss canceled Virkus at the last moment.
