The Australian actor Chris Hemsworth (38) joked at the premiere of his new film “Thor: Love and Thunder” (German cinema release: July 6) about a scene in which his bare bottom can be seen. “This scene took ten years to prepare – it’s kind of a dream of mine,” Hemsworth told Variety magazine. “The first time I played Thor, I took off my shirt and I was like, ‘You know what’s going to make this even cuter… in a decade everything will be stripped.’ Hemsworth first portrayed the comic book superhero in 2011’s Thor.
Director Taika Waititi (46) also commented on the scene. When asked how the revealing moment came about, Waititi said it was important to him to show off Hemsworth’s physique. “We talked about it, ‘Yes, we have to show this body.’ It was all about Chris working so hard that you just have to show him off. Don’t cover him up with all those suits and capes and stuff, it’s not fair!”
Not the first nude scene
For Hemsworth, it wasn’t the first time he’d had to show it all on screen. “I had that in ‘Rush’ many years ago,” he said of the 2013 racer biopic.
The actor also revealed that it was “intimidating” to see Natalie Portman, 41, as Mighty Thor on the set of Thor: Love and Thunder for the first time overcome and was in awe of what she had accomplished.”
