Finance Minister Christian Lindner and his fiancée, Franca Lehfeldt, said yes. They got married in a civil ceremony.

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner (43) married his fiancee, journalist Franca Lehfeldt (33), on July 7th. RTL reports that the couple said yes to family and friends on Sylt late Thursday afternoon. Shortly thereafter, the two showed themselves publicly as man and woman for the first time. The channel also released a video briefly showing the newlywed couple.

First bachelorette party, then church wedding

It had already become known in advance that Lindner and Lehfeldt wanted to get married in a civil registry office on Thursday. Nikolas Häckel, the mayor of the municipality of Sylt, had confirmed to the dpa that he would marry the two. According to media reports, a bachelorette party is planned for Friday and the church wedding should therefore take place on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lehfeldt shared a short clip on her Instagram Stories that makeup artist and hairstylist Lukas Kuciel had published. The video shows the bride in an elegant but simple look during the preparations. It says “Wedding Time”, roughly “time for the wedding”.

If there were still a few friends and family members on Thursday, around 140 guests are expected at the wedding, as the “Spiegel” writes, citing consistent media reports. The list is said to include Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64) and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (41). Lindner and Lehfeldt’s engagement became known last year.
