Saxony’s Prime Minister Kretschmer had drawn heavy criticism for his insistence on a “freezing” of the Russian war of aggression. Now he is backed by someone else.

In the dispute over the consequences of the Ukraine war, the left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht supports the line of the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU). Kretschmer had declared that Germany had to mediate and ensure “that this war is frozen”. Russian raw materials are still needed. Wagenknecht told the German Press Agency on Wednesday: “Kretschmer is right on this point.”
