A cyclist discovered the body of a young woman in a nature reserve early in the morning and informed the police. Now there are clues as to their identity.

According to the current state of investigation, the body of a woman discovered in a nature reserve near Hamm (NRW) is a missing 17-year-old. The police and the public prosecutor’s office announced this on Friday evening. The young woman from the Märkisch district had therefore disappeared since last Tuesday (June 14).

According to police reports, a cyclist discovered the body on a path around 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning. The body was on fire at the time, the spokesman for the prosecutor’s office said. But the fire was not the cause of death. “We assume that she had been dead for several days and that the body was only cremated there to remove traces,” he said.

There was initially no information about the suspects. A homicide detective is investigating.
