Daniel Brühl and Macaulay Culkin are shooting together for the first time. The German and the child star are in front of the camera in “Rich Flu”.

The crazy “Kevin – Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin (41) and Daniel Brühl (43), our man in Hollywood: two names that are rarely mentioned in one breath. This has now happened in a report from the Hollywood trade journal “Variety”. Culkin and Brühl join the cast of Rich Flu. In the autumn of this year, the main actress Rosamund Pike (43) should be in front of the camera.

The film’s story sounds just as weird as the Brühl/Culkin pairing. A virus breaks out that hits the richest people in the world. First it kills the billionaires, then the multi-millionaires. Panicking, the well-heeled try to get rid of their riches.

“Rich Flu” is directed by the Spaniard Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia (48), who recently shot the Netflix horror hit “The Shaft”.

Culkin and Brühl: Stars with interesting careers

Macaulay Culkin became a child star with the “Kevin” films – and a millionaire when he came of age. Early fame was more of a curse than a blessing for him. As an adult, he rarely made films, making more music and nonsense on the Internet. In recent years, however, he has been increasingly present on the cinema screen or the TV screen (“American Horror Story”).

Daniel Brühl was born in Barcelona to a German father and a Spanish mother. Around 2000 he became famous with “Good Bye, Lenin”. With roles in “Inglourious Basterds”, “Rush” or “The First Avenger: Civil War” he has now arrived in Hollywood.
