Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan wanted to bring a photographer to the meeting between their daughter Lilibet and the Queen. But the monarch rejected the plans.
It would certainly have been a photo that would have caused a stir, but the Queen prevented it: As the British newspaper “The Sun” reports, the British Queen did not want her meeting with her great-granddaughter Lilibet to be accompanied by a photographer . The one-year-old is the daughter of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan and met her great-grandmother for the first time as part of the 70th anniversary of the throne.
Harry and Meghan, who officially left the British royal family in 2020 and have since lived in the USA with their two children, traveled to the UK for the four-day celebrations. In London, they watched the “Trooping the Color” military parade, but were not allowed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Queen decided that in advance.
Queen met great-granddaughter Lilibet at Windsor Castle
After the parade, the family reunion between the Queen and her great-granddaughter Lilibet took place at Windsor Castle. Harry and Meghan also had their three-year-old son Archie with them. The Queen last saw the boy in person when he was six months old. The Queen is said to have flatly refused the couple’s request to bring a photographer to the meeting, as it was a purely private gathering. The palace was apparently also concerned that possible photos could be passed on to US television stations.
The recently published photos of their daughter Lilibet show that Harry and Meghan were accompanied by a personal photographer in Great Britain. The Brit Misan Harriman shot them. He and his family attended the first birthday party on Saturday at the Frogmore Cottage estate. Harry’s cousin Zara Tindall is said to have celebrated with her three children Mia, Lena and Lucas, as well as his cousin Peter Phillips, who has daughters Savannah and Isla.
Harry’s brother William is said to have also been invited with his wife Kate and the children. Whether he didn’t want to come or simply couldn’t come is not clear. When Harry and Meghan celebrated their children’s birthday party, the future heir to the throne appeared with his family at an appointment in the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
