Kevin Spacey may soon face four counts of sexual assault in a court in England.

Serious allegations have been made against American actor Kevin Spacey (62) for years. But only now could the allegations that the Oscar winner repeatedly sexually assaulted or even abused young men, some of whom were underage, actually end up in court. In the UK, criminal charges were brought against the actor on suspicion of sexual assault in four cases.

This was done by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), as can be read on the official website of the law enforcement agency. Rosemary Ainslie, chief of the CPS’ Special Crime Division, is quoted as saying: “The CPS has authorized criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, in four counts of sexual assault against three men.”

Innocent until proven guilty

Three of these incidents were said to have taken place in London in 2005 and 2008, and one in Gloucestershire in 2013. “He was also charged with forcing an individual to engage in penetrative sexual activity without their consent. The charges came after reviewing evidence the Metropolitan Police had gathered in their investigation.”

However, it is very important, the press release continued, that “this is an ongoing case against Mr. Spacey and that he has the right to a fair trial.” It is therefore essential to avoid prejudice against the actor.

Spacey has been sued several times in his US homeland, but so far he has avoided a court case there. One of the alleged victims died of cancer, another surprisingly refused to testify, so the public prosecutor’s office had to drop the lawsuit.
