Don’t feel like all-round festivals with a wild mix of styles? For fans of certain genres there are again many genre festivals this summer.

After a two-year break, the festival summer is back. Not only the big all-round festivals for rock and pop fans, but also the events for scene-goers will take place again in 2022. The festival summer has a lot in store for metal, electronic, hip-hop and reggae fans.

Wave-Gotik-Treffen: 3.-6. June

Fans of black metal, neofolk, psychobilly and horror punk can be happy: after a two-year break due to the pandemic, the alternative and black scene is coming together again at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. 192 artists have announced a performance for this year’s festival. Not only bands and musicians can be heard, but also exhibitions, theater and films. Performing acts include:

Aesthetic Perfection, Centhron, Erdling, Fiddler’s Green, Finsterforst, L’Âme Immortelle, Lacrimosa, Letzte Instanz, Solar Fake, Storm Seeker, Varg, Xotox

Full Force: 24.-26. June

Metal, hardcore and punk fans will get their money’s worth at Full Force. Ferropolis, the “City of Iron” near Gräfenhainichen in Saxony-Anhalt, is hosting the festival for the fourth time. These bands will be on stage, among others:

Splash! Festival: June 30-June 2 July and 7th-9th July

The Splash! The festival has two weekends to offer this year: The Red Weekend from June 30th to July 2nd and the Blue Weekend from July 7th to 9th. These are among this year’s hip hop and rap acts in Ferropolis:

Ruhrpott Rodeo: 1.-3. July

In 2022, the Ruhrpott Rodeo will take place again, which is considered the largest punk festival in Germany. The outdoor area at the Schwarze Heide airfield in Hünxe near Bottrop is home to these bands and artists this year:

Summerjam Festival: 1-3. Juli

The Summerjam Festival is celebrating a double anniversary in 2022: the event has been around for 35 years and has been taking place in Cologne for 25 years. The motto this year is: “Feel the Beat”. Reggae and dancehall fans can look forward to the following acts, among others:

Bang Your Head: 14.-16. Juli

Hard guitar riffs will soon be heard again at the Balingen exhibition center: metal, hard rock and rock fans will meet at the Bang Your Head. Included are among others:

Burg Herzberg Festival: 28.-31. July

This event makes the hearts of all hippies beat faster. The music and literature festival in Breitenbach am Herzberg offers pop and rock music. Among other things, these musicians offer Love

Wacken Open Air: 4.-8. August

One of the biggest metal festivals in the world takes place at the beginning of August: The W:O:A invites you to headbang in Schleswig-Holstein again in 2022. 75,000 fans are expected. Those who were still able to get tickets will be able to play, among others:

Haldern Pop: 11.-13. August

Sacred Ground Festival: 11.-14. August

The Sacred Ground Festival attracts electronic, indie and pop lovers every year and invites you to relax and slow down. In Friedland near Berlin, however, there is no listening to music: the topic of mindfulness plays a major role at the festival, which is why various courses, lectures, yoga and massage therapy are also on the program. SonneMondSterne: 12.-14. August

Anyone who likes to shake their hips to electro music will get their money’s worth at SonneMondStars. Around 40,000 fans are expected near Saalburg-Ebersdorf in Thuringia. The line-up features some big names, including:

Summer Breeze: 17.-20. August

Metal and rock lovers meet near Dinkelsbühl in mid-August for the Summer Breeze. The festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Fans of the scene can look forward to:
