A new animated series of Ghostbusters is reportedly in development at Netflix. This is reported by the US industry portal “Variety”. As a producer of the series from Sony Pictures Animation, Jason Reitman (44) is said to be involved in the project. The son of “Ghostbusters” legend Ivan Reitman (1946-2022) was also the director and co-writer of “Ghostbusters: Legacy”. The live-action film hits theaters in 2021.

According to the report, exact details about the plot of the new series are still being kept under wraps. If the project goes ahead, it would be the third animated “Ghostbusters” TV show in franchise history. The Real Ghostbusters ran for 140 episodes from 1986 to 1991. In it, the adventures of the well-known characters from the films Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore. The animated series “Extreme Ghostbusters” followed later, of which there were 40 episodes. In it, Egon Spengler leads a new team of ghost hunters.
