dr In her talk show, Eckart von Hirschhausen reports to Sandra Maischberger about his experiences with long-Covid patients, which he made for the documentary “The Pandemic of the Untreated”.

There is a large number of people who are still suffering from the consequences of their corona infection. Several hundred thousand, explains Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen on Wednesday evening Sandra Maischberger. And the number of unreported cases is possibly much, much higher.

Hirschhausen visited some of the patients for his ARD documentary “The Pandemic of the Untreated”. A question that unites everyone: “Why can’t you see us?” Because for many of those who are suffering, it seems as if the possible consequences of a corona infection are not being discussed.

According to Hirschhausen, the most typical symptom of Long Covid is “an incredible exhaustion that hardly exists in this form anywhere else”, as well as cardiovascular problems. The reason is the immune system, which “goes crazy” in some corona patients. “It is important to me that these people are taken seriously and seen,” says the doctor at “Maischberger”.

Long Covid and the large number of unreported cases

The problem is that there are “experimental treatment concepts” that “are not systematically collected,” he explains to the moderator. It is still not known today which treatment could best help which patient.

During his research, Hirschhausen also got to know those affected from the nursing professions who were at the mercy of the virus at the beginning of the pandemic, when there was no vaccination and only a few masks. “We let them run into the open knife and now we’re going to ram the second knife in their backs,” he emphasizes. The majority of those affected by Long-Covid are young women, according to Hirschhausen, “who were previously totally in life”.

Long Covid after vaccination

Another group that worries him are the patients who have developed Long Covid after vaccination. This is usually accompanied by heart muscle inflammation. Here, too, the number of unreported cases is large, explains Hirschhausen.

“Yes, everything that works has side effects and it’s a small group,” he says, and yet you have to “ensure transparency”. The first step is to “see and understand” people. It is already the second documentary by Hirschhausen on the subject. After the first, the response from the affected group was huge.
