An uncontrolled journey by a public bus led to a serious traffic accident in Heidelberg on Wednesday. According to the Baden-Württemberg police in Mannheim, 18 people were injured when the bus collided with a wall and a house facade. At least one occupant was seriously injured.

The driver was not on the bus when the accident occurred

The driver of the articulated bus left the vehicle at around 1:45 p.m. due to a defect in one of the rear entrance doors.

Meanwhile, the vehicle started moving for initially unknown reasons and, after driving a few meters without a driver, crashed first into a wall and then into the facade of a property.

Eight injured people were taken to nearby hospitals. The seriously injured passenger was flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter.
