Kremlin: granting Ukraine a status of NATO partner does not enhance security in Europe

In the Kremlin believe that granting Ukraine the status of a NATO partner does not enhance security in Europe. This was stated press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

“Our position in relation to NATO at our borders, it is consistent, well known, – quoted Peskov “Interfax”. – We always very closely related to the approach of NATO’s military infrastructure to our borders, we have to take appropriate necessary steps to ensure their own safety in this regard”.

Reporters asked Peskov, is there any symbolism in the fact that the status of the partner and of NATO gave Ukraine 12 June – Russia Day.

“That’s not our concern, in this case we pay attention to the essence of the processes,” – said the official representative of the Kremlin. He added that Moscow always with great attention watch “processes, when NATO absorbs in itself all new and new countries”.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine deserves the status of a partner Alliance with advanced features. He believes that Ukraine has shown itself as a “valuable” ally of NATO.

At the same time, according to him, not yet solved the problem of blocking Hungary meetings of the Commission Ukraine-NATO.

“that’s what we need to decide, and I hope that we will find this decision”, – said Stoltenberg.

Allies in the North Atlantic bloc took the decision to grant Ukraine the status of partner on 12 June. However, Hungary have several years of blocks of the meeting of the Commission Ukraine-NATO above the ambassadorial level. In Budapest believe that the Ukrainian law on languages infringes the rights of living in Ukraine Hungarians.
