It’s starting: The shooting of “Manta, Manta 2” with Til Schweiger is in the starting blocks. The production team is now looking for extras.

All fans of the 90s cult strip “Manta, Manta” from North Rhine-Westphalia must prick up their ears now: The production team is looking for hundreds of extras for the shooting of the sequel with Til Schweiger (58), Tina Ruland (55) and Michael Kessler (54 ) in the leading roles. Men and women between the ages of 8 and 80 from all over North Rhine-Westphalia are invited. Through the agency Eick, the filmmakers are looking, among other things, for actors for spectators, press people and “the racing team for an exciting car race”.

In addition, visitors to a beach bar between the ages of 18 and 45 would be wanted, where there would be “pretty bikini girls and party guests in beach and club outfits”. The organizers are also on the lookout for people who are interested in classic restaurant and pedestrian scenes, as well as male and female DJs, people who can drive karts, hairdressers and volunteers who want to have their hair cut in front of the camera.

Shooting will take place from mid-June to early September

The period of filming is planned from mid-June to early September, with the districts of Höxter, Mettmann, Dormagen, Dortmund and Cologne being named as locations. Applicants should submit two current pictures by June 16th and would receive feedback from the director by July 27th. You are also paid for your extra work: 100 or 105 euros per day of shooting beckon for those interested. Specials, doubles and small actors would be remunerated correspondingly higher.

The action comedy “Manta, Manta” was released in German cinemas in 1992 and quickly became a cult film. At the center of the action is the Manta driver Bertie (Til Schweiger) and his buddies, who compete in street races against other car freaks in the Ruhr area. For Schweiger in particular, the film meant his final breakthrough as an actor.
