Who sees what I post and what ads do I see? This should soon be easier to regulate on Facebook. Other meta services are also affected.

The Facebook group Meta promises its users better information about how their data is used. The data policy has been reworded for this, as Meta announced on Thursday.

“But this updated policy doesn’t change how Meta collects, uses, or shares data,” the company said. Among other things, however, the facts should be presented in a more understandable way with additional information and more examples.

The updated meta data policy applies to Facebook, Instagram and the Messenger chat service – but not to WhatsApp, the Workplace office communication service or the Messenger Kids service, it said. They would have their own privacy policies.

On Facebook, it should be easier and more flexible to set who can see a post in the future. Users should also be able to set their preferences for advertisements more easily.
