The new series “Ms. Marvel” starts on Disney. Here you can find out what fans can expect from the new superheroine.

“Ms. Marvel” will be released on June 8th on the Disney streaming service, a series about a new superheroine in the MCU: Kamala Khan, who grows up as a Muslim-American teenager in Jersey City. That’s what the fans can expect.

That’s what “Ms. Marvel” is about

The focus is on Kamala Khan, who suddenly has to balance her high school life, her family and her emerging superpowers. As an avid gamer and passionate fan fiction writer, the youngster is a big superhero fan. She has a tremendous imagination – especially when it comes to Captain Marvel. Still, Kamala feels invisible both at home and at school – at least until she gains the same superpowers as the heroes she’s always looked up to.

Who’s in?

Iman Vellani (19) stars as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel in her acting debut. Like the character she plays, the 19-year-old is said to be a huge Avengers fan. The series cast also includes Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.

What superpowers does the new heroine have?

According to the trailers, unlike in the comic book, Kamala appears to use purple energy in the TV show, which involves bracelets. “We’re adapting the comics; it’s not an exact translation,” said Kevin Feige (48), president of Marvel Studios, in an interview with “Empire”. Speaking about the new origins of Khan’s powers, he added: “What we’re going to learn about where these powers come from and how they are created is specific to the MCU.” It’s about “her own past and her heritage and her ancestry”.

How many episodes are there?

Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney on June 8, 2022. There will be six episodes in total. The series is part of the fourth phase of the MCU.

What’s next for Ms. Marvel after that?

The series is apparently related to the movie “The Marvels”, which is scheduled for release in summer 2023. Vellani will reprise her role as Kamala Khan, and other cast members are said to be returning. The strip with Brie Larson (32) as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel is said to be the continuation of “Captain Marvel” (2019) and the “Ms. Marvel” series.
