In March 2019, rapper Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed. A man arrested shortly afterwards as a suspect has now been found guilty

More than three years after the death of Nipsey Hussle (1985-2019), a suspect has been found guilty of the rapper’s murder. The then 33-year-old, real name Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was fatally injured with a gun on March 31, 2019 in Los Angeles in front of a clothing store.

The police announced a few days later that a man had been arrested as the suspected perpetrator and was in custody. A jury has now found him guilty, reports US media such as “CNN”. The sentence should therefore be announced in September. The man found guilty could be sentenced to life in prison.

Murder or Manslaughter?

According to the report, the defense had previously argued that it was manslaughter in affect and that the man acted out of anger because the rapper allegedly publicly called him a “traitor”. The prosecution, on the other hand, saw a methodical approach in the attack on Nipsey Hussle.

Nipsey Hussle was known worldwide as a rapper, but he always remembered his origins. Growing up in Crenshaw, a district of Los Angeles, he campaigned for his area for a long time and, among other things, fought gang crime that was widespread there. The father of two was, among other things, the founder of the label All Money In. He was posthumously awarded two Grammys in 2020.
