The Obi-Wan Kenobi series begins. Who’s in and what can “Star Wars” fans expect? The information is here.

With “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, a new series from Lucasfilm starts on May 27th on the Disney streaming service. Ewan McGregor (51) slips back into his cult role as a Jedi master. He had already embodied him in the prequel trilogy: In “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” (1999), “Episode II – Attack of the Clones” (2002) and “Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” (2005 ) he was seen as Obi-Wan. Here’s what “Star Wars” fans need to know about the new TV show:

When is Obi-Wan Kenobi set?

The story the series tells begins ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and takes place several years before Episode IV. Obi-Wan Kenobi first faces his greatest defeat to date: the downfall and ruin of his best friend and Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Who’s in?

In addition to Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen (41) also returns with the series in the role of Darth Vader. Also cast are: Moses Ingram (29), Joel Edgerton (47), Bonnie Piesse (38), Kumail Nanjiani (44), Indira Varma (48), Rupert Friend (40), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (31) , Sung Kang (50), Simone Kessell (47) and Benny Safdie (36).

What is there to see?

The first trailer scenes of the eagerly awaited “Star Wars” series have already caused enthusiasm among Jedi disciples around the world. There was great joy, for example, that the series shows a certain Luke Skywalker as a child. A brief scene shows Obi-Wan watching the boy. The little one is sitting on the dwelling that fans have known since 1977 and is playing pilot.

The fraction of a second from the trailer also made many viewers speculate wildly. In a dark alley, the back of a person can be seen who, with resourceful eagle eyes, claims to have recognized the laser blaster in his right hand: Is it really Han Solo?

And Joel Edgerton, who has since become a Hollywood star himself, can also be seen in the trailer – again as Luke’s uncle Owen, with whom the boy grows up.

What is known about the plot?

The series is scheduled for six episodes. As usual in the “Star Wars” universe, not much was known in advance. From the films and the chronological classification between the prequel and original trilogy, however, it should be clear: the viewers learn how things will continue for the now persecuted Master Kenobi after the Empire took power and the Jedi order was destroyed. And how on Tatooine, his exile, he keeps a distant eye on a little boy named Luke Skywalker, Anakin’s son. The trailers also reveal that Obi-Wan is being hunted by Darth Vader and his henchmen.
