A police officer was shot and injured during an operation in Saarbrücken-Klarenthal on Friday. The police called on residents to stay in their homes.

A person shoots out of the window in the Wilhelmstrasse area, the police said on Twitter. “Please stay in your houses and away from the windows.” The area is cordoned off. “There is still no all-clear,” said a police spokeswoman.

According to the police, the officers were on site to support the Saarbrücken City Weapons Authority in the context of administrative and enforcement assistance. When the police and city employees arrived at the 67-year-old to search his apartment, he shot the police officer. A police officer was injured by flying glass fragments.
