You have submitted the application for postal voting, but how long do you have to send the documents? FOCUS Online gives you the answer.

The application for postal voting for the upcoming European elections must be submitted to the electoral office by Friday, June 7th at 6 p.m. Anyone who was unable to vote due to illness can, in exceptional cases, submit an application for a postal vote by 3 p.m. on election Sunday – however, the completed ballot papers must still be received by 6 p.m. on the same day.

Whether online, by post or in person at the postal voting office – there are various ways to obtain the postal voting documents for the 2024 European elections. However, voting documents cannot be requested over the telephone.

However, if so much time passes that the documents will no longer arrive on time, there are other options for casting your vote.

The post office also does not deliver on an election Sunday. So if you forget to send the documents on time, you still have the option of putting the documents in the mailbox of the responsible municipality or electoral office. You can bring your voting documents to the address on the envelope. It is important that this happens by 6 p.m. on election Sunday at the latest.

Alternatively, you can also vote at your polling station. It is sufficient to show the voting notification. However, to be on the safe side, you should carry your ID card with you.
