The Rammstein concert in Leipzig had to be interrupted due to heavy rain. “The first time in history,” said musician Richard Kruspe.

The Rammstein concert in Leipzig had to be interrupted for half an hour on Friday evening (May 20). Because of a thunderstorm with heavy rain, it became too dangerous for the band and their 45,000 fans, according to the “Leipziger Volkszeitung”. The interior was cleared about 45 minutes after the start of the concert. The concert visitors were informed with multilingual announcements and information via social media. After 15 minutes, the fans were allowed back into the standing area.

In a video showing lead guitarist Richard Kruspe (54) backstage during the break, which was shared several times on the band’s Instagram page, he explains in English: “This is the first time in Rammstein’s history that that we have to interrupt the show because of rain.” Fascinated by the mood of the end of the world, he added: “Look at that. History.”

Stadium tour of Europe

Since May 15, the internationally successful German rock band around frontman Till Lindemann (59) has been catching up on the remaining concerts of the big stadium tour 2020/2021. It all started at Letnany Airport in the Czech capital of Prague. After Leipzig, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Berlin are also on the German part of the cult band’s program. However, tickets for these shows are no longer available in the official presale.

This is different in other European cities. There are still limited contingents for both Klagenfurt concerts on May 25th and 26th, as well as for Cardiff in Wales (June 30th) and the two concerts in Lyon, France (July 8th and 9th). You can also see Rammstein live in Norway and Sweden – the band will be performing in Oslo on July 24th and in Gothenburg on July 28th. Tickets for all of these dates are available on the official website of the “Sonne” artists. Buyers will be redirected to the websites of the respective advance booking offices.
