Wout Weghorst is set to join Besiktas Istanbul from Burnley FC. There he would meet another ex-Wolfsburger.

According to consistent media reports from England and Turkey, former Bundesliga striker Wout Weghorst is about to move from FC Burnley to Besiktas Istanbul.

However, the negotiations are apparently still stuck with the modalities: while the Premier League relegated only wants to lend the Dutchman, the top Turkish club would like to knock out a purchase option for the attacker.

Besiktas: Weghorst and Ismael know each other from Wolfsburg

Weghorst switched to FC Burnley on the last day of this year’s winter transfer period after scoring 59 goals in 118 Bundesliga games for VfL Wolfsburg in order to fulfill his “dream of the Premier League”, according to the statement at the time. However, with just two goals in 20 games, he was unable to prevent Burnley from being relegated to the Championship.

At Besiktas, Weghorst would meet another ex-Wolfsburger. Coach Valerien Ismael coached the second team of VfL from 2015 to 2017 and then the Bundesliga team.
