Germany wants to deliver four multiple rocket launchers from Bundeswehr stocks to Ukraine.

The German Press Agency learned on Wednesday from government circles that this is being done in close coordination with the USA, which would also take over the training of Ukrainian soldiers on the systems. The plan is to deliver the heavy weapons, which can hit targets at long range, by the end of the month.

The United States had already announced on Tuesday that it would deliver modern multiple rocket launchers to defend against the Russian invasion. Ukraine has pledged not to attack targets on Russian territory with the US-made HIMARS artillery system, the White House said. Scholz had expressly referred to this commitment in his budget speech in the Bundestag and announced that he would support the delivery of the USA. But he hadn’t given any details yet.

US President Joe Biden wrote in a guest article for the “New York Times” that the modern missile systems should enable the attacked country to hit “important targets on the battlefield in Ukraine” more precisely. At the same time, Biden assured: “We don’t want a war between NATO and Russia.” Nor did the US attempt to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, if Russia does not pay a high price for attacking Ukraine, it could lead to the end of the rules-based international order and catastrophic consequences worldwide.
