Drug problems caused quite a stir throughout his career. And even if rock singer Pete Doherty no longer takes drugs – he still doesn’t see himself completely freed.

According to his own statement, rock singer Pete Doherty (43) no longer takes drugs, but does not see himself finally freed.

“I don’t take heroin anymore. But it’s not easy. The obsession is still in me. I don’t really want to take it though. It’s a wild ride at the moment. Time will tell if I can exist in this world without the stuff,” Doherty said in the July issue of Playboy.

“Drugs are a simple, short-term solution to many problems, but they only make things a lot worse in the long run. Right now the drugs are like an old friend that you still think about, but you know you shouldn’t meet him because he causes too much trouble and pain.”

The singer has made headlines throughout his career for his drug-ridden lifestyle. He now lives with his wife Katia de Vidas in the Normandy countryside, according to his own statement since around November 2019 without a smartphone. The Doherty for the headlines no longer exist: “He left, “dust in the wind”” said the 43-year-old. On June 16, the Briton will publish the biography “A Likely Lad” about his turbulent life.
