Spying out sensitive customer data at ATMs in Germany seemed to be a thing of the past. Now the numbers are going up again. Experts have a simple explanation for this.

Data theft from ATMs in Germany increased in the first six months of 2022 for the first time in years. Criminals manipulated ATMs nationwide 140 times in the first half of the year in order to spy on bank customers’ card data and PIN. Euro card systems communicated this on request.
