Finance Minister Lindner and the journalist Franca Lehfeldt marry. After the registry office and bachelorette party, the highlight of the celebrations now follows – some prominent guests came by private jet.

Finance Minister Christian Lindner (43, FDP) and the journalist Franca Lehfeldt (33) celebrate their wedding on Sylt on Saturday.

In the morning, police officers used dogs to search the church and cemetery of St. Severin Church in Keitum, where the couple, according to media reports, intends to get married. Afterwards, officials remained on the premises. There was no official information in advance about the timing of the three-day celebration and the individual locations. The exact time of the wedding in St. Severin is also not known. Observers go out in the afternoon.

Guest list with numerous celebrities

On Thursday afternoon, Mayor Nikolas Häckel (independent) carried out the civil wedding in the Sylt Museum. The Church of St. Severin is one of Sylt’s landmarks with centuries of history and is also a popular wedding venue for celebrities. In 2018, for example, fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer gave his long-term partner Frank Mutters the “yes” word.

After the wedding in the church, the evening celebrations will take place in the “Sansibar” between Rantum and Hörnum on the North Sea beach of Sylt. Numerous celebrities are said to be on the guest list – including Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). CDU leader Friedrich Merz arrived on Sylt with the private plane on Friday. He himself sat in the cockpit of the plane, with his wife Charlotte at his side. VW CEO Herbert Diess also landed at the island’s airport.

Civil marriage

The area around the Sylt Museum was cordoned off by the police for the civil wedding on Thursday. Interested viewers only got to see the couple when they exited the building and got into a car. There was no official information in advance about the timing of the three-day celebration and the individual locations. The North Frisian island is a popular holiday destination for celebrities and is also often chosen for weddings.

It is the second marriage for the 43-year-old Lindner. He was already married to the journalist Dagmar Rosenfeld. Lehfeldt is also a journalist. The 33-year-old works as a political reporter for the Welt news channel, which belongs to the Axel Springer media group. It was announced last October that she and Lindner had gotten engaged.
