If British actor Taron Egerton has his way, he will be seen in the role of Marvel hero Wolverine in the future.

One of Hollywood star Hugh Jackman’s (53) best-known roles is that of Marvel hero Wolverine. A string of appearances in the “X-Men” films helped the Australian to world fame. However, he no longer wants to play the character in the future. Instead, his British colleague Taron Egerton (32) could replace him as a superhero.

Egerton, known among other things from the “Kingsman” series and from the Elton John biopic “Rocketman”, would at least very much like to see himself in the role. “I would be thrilled,” he explains in an interview with the “New York Times”. At the same time, he was also a little “concerned” because Jackman would become so attached to the character and wondered if it would be “very difficult” for anyone else to portray Wolverine as a result.

Accordingly, Egerton has already met with those responsible – including Kevin Feige (49), President of Marvel Studios and the main head behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The actor hopes he’ll get a chance should the opportunity arise.

Jackman could give Egerton a few tips

In the summer of 2021, after speculation about a return, Jackman said that the role of Wolverine was a big chapter in his life for him, but that he no longer wanted to appear as the Marvel superhero. The character is now “in my past,” he told the Screen Rant website.

Jackman might have some tips for Egerton if he actually plays the character. The two know each other. The Briton and the Australian were seen together in the 2016 film “Eddie the Eagle – Everything is possible”. In the sports comedy about ski jumper Michael Edwards (58), Jackman took his younger colleague under his wing.
