Amber Heard has renewed her allegations of violence in the Johnny Depp trial. She got divorced out of fear of death: “The person I was afraid of was also the person I loved.”

After the trial between Johnny Depp (58) and Amber Heard (36) paused last week, the former Hollywood couple faced another court in Virginia this Monday (May 16). Again Heard found himself in the witness stand, again it was about alleged outbreaks of violence and lies.

The actress again accused her former husband of violent behavior. Depp hit her in an Orient Express car on their honeymoon in 2015, Heard said in the Fairfax County Court, Virginia. He also held her neck so hard that she thought he might kill her, she said.

Heard described particularly emotionally how she finally decided to divorce Depp: “I knew that I wouldn’t survive if I didn’t do it, so I filed for divorce. I knew if I did If I didn’t, I would probably and literally die.” Describing the dilemma she found herself in at the time, she said, “The person I feared was also the person I loved.”

Called a liar and a greedy mouth

She was never interested in Depp’s money, the “Aquaman” star asserted. Heard had been awarded seven million dollars through the divorce, but she actually wanted to donate the entire sum. The fact that she has not yet done so is solely due to the fact that she has been facing Depp’s million dollar lawsuit ever since.

The most important thing for her was to clear her name, which Depp allegedly denigrated. After the divorce was filed, he ran a real “smear campaign” against her and repeatedly publicly insulted her as a “liar and greedy mouth”. You should be harmed as much as possible: “All I have is my integrity and my name, and he wanted to rob me of that.”

He “forced” her to the trial

She never intended to drag Depp into court for his alleged violent outbursts towards her. That’s why she never reported domestic violence. But his threats to “ruin” her and brand her a liar “forced” her to take legal action against him.

The fact that he forced her to once again have to publicize all these “embarrassing” and terrible events was pure “torture” for her. She didn’t want to do anything more “than get on with my life, but he just won’t let me.”

Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for $50 million over a 2018 post she published in The Washington Post. In it, she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. She did not mention her ex-husband by name. Depp claims the post nonetheless ruined his career, damaged his reputation and cost him a lot of money as a result. Heard has filed a $100 million counterclaim against her ex.
