Ms. Reichard, when does travel cancellation insurance take effect? It steps in in various situations. The most common case is when the insured or a co-insured person unexpectedly and seriously falls ill or suffers an accident. This must be certified by a doctor. The insurance also applies to a number of reasons that are not related to illness – for example, if the apartment burns down or someone suddenly loses their job. Short-time work can also trigger insurance cover under certain circumstances. That depends on the conditions.
