Val Kilmer has a cameo appearance in Top Gun: Maverick. His daughter is now raving about the shooting.

Pure nostalgia for Val Kilmer (62) and his daughter: The actor, who played Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in “Top Gun” 36 years ago, returns for a cameo in the new film “Top Gun: Maverick”. His daughter, singer Mercedes Kilmer (30), was on the set and now raves about the scene in an interview with “Page Six”: “I was on the set, I saw it live and it was extraordinary. It means a lot to my father , because he’s very proud of the film. It’s what he loves,” explains the musician.

Throat cancer: Val Kilmer has lost his voice

Val Kilmer’s guest appearance on ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ comes after the actor battled throat cancer for two years. Kilmer has now been cancer-free for six years, but the disease has left its mark. Because of an emergency tracheotomy, the American lost almost all of his ability to speak. His voice in “Maverick” had to use archival footage and animation.

“Top Gun: Maverick” with Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise (59) starts in German cinemas on May 26th.
