A low pressure area is currently making the weather cooler. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible on Sunday. However, from the middle of the week it will be milder again.

The weather forecast for the coming days is uncomfortable: “It is and will remain changeable. The temperature is initially anything but summery, »explained a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.

Only in the middle of the week are temperatures around 20 degrees possible again. Sunday night will be mostly dry. The lows slip to six to two degrees – ground frost must be expected in the middle

Showers and thunderstorms in some places

Cool air from the northwest will cause widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms on Sunday. Only in the direction of the Upper Rhine and Neckar and in Lusatia will it remain mostly dry and clear. However, the strong wind on Saturday in the north-eastern half eased off significantly. According to the forecast, gusts with wind speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour are only blowing on the North Sea coast. “The temperature is unusually cool with maximum values of up to 18 degrees,” says the weather expert.

At the start of the new week, little will change at first: after the temperatures have dropped to nine to two degrees at night and local ground frost, the sky will remain cloudy on Monday. During the day there are repeated showers, especially in the north and east of the country. With temperatures between 13 and 19 degrees, it will remain cool.

Warmer from Wednesday

After that the weather calmed down a bit. From Wednesday, however, warm, humid air from the south will reach Germany, which will bring increasing thunderstorms with it. “By the end of the week, the 30-degree mark could be cracked again,” said the meteorologist.

Wednesday (June 1st) marks the start of meteorological summer. In order to be able to compare whole monthly values in statistics, the seasons in meteorology begin at the beginning of March, June, September and December. The astronomical start of summer this year is on June 21, when the sun reaches its northernmost point above the earth and its highest point of the year at noon.
