Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner and his partner, journalist Franca Lehfeldt, got married on Sylt. For the appointment at the registry office, the 32-year-old chose a modern look.

It’s one of the most exciting questions at any wedding: What is the bride wearing? On Thursday, too, numerous onlookers waited in front of the Sylt Museum in Keitum to catch a glimpse of Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner and his partner Franca Lehfeldt, who said yes on the North Sea island that day. Rather cool temperatures and predicted gusts of wind meant that no light summer dress could be expected.

The 32-year-old ended up wearing a strapless ivory jumpsuit for a sleek, modern look. The one-piece featured a draped bustier, wide legs, and an asymmetric panel down the right side that resembled a train. The creation was designed by British designer Daniela Karnuts for her label Safiyaa, which she founded in 2011 and named after her daughter.

Karnuts worked for many years as commercial director for a large fashion company in London. In her eyes, however, she never found timeless, affordable fashion that she could wear as a working woman. So she quickly founded her own company and started with a selection of twelve dresses. In the meantime there is not only a basic collection, but also a line for evening dresses and bridal fashion. The Franca Lehfeldt jumpsuit is available online for around 1600 euros and is not specifically from the wedding collection.

Duchess Meghan likes to wear dresses from Safiyaa

One of the first women to draw attention to the Safiyaa label was Duchess Meghan. She appeared in a blue dress from the brand at a state dinner in Fiji in October 2018. A little later, former First Lady Michelle Obama also wore a suit from the label. In the meantime, stars like Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lopez or Gilian Anderson are among the fans. The latter, for example, attended the 2020 Golden Globes in a white Safiyaa robe.

With the choice of her wedding look, Franca Lehfeldt has definitely demonstrated a flair for trends. She combined shimmering blue pumps by Christian Louboutin with the modern jumpsuit – perfectly color-coordinated with the suit by Christian Lindner. The journalist had styled her hair in a strict ponytail, probably also a pragmatic decision, because the German weather service had announced storm gusts for the wedding day.

But Lehfeldt was apparently prepared for that too: When she left the registry office, she had a white knitted cardigan slung loosely over her arm. She also wore a beige clutch from the luxury brand Bottega Veneta and a bouquet of white roses in her right hand. In terms of fashion, it was a successful start to the three-day wedding marathon on Sylt.
