The songs that Alicia Keys performed at the Queen’s Concert on Saturday were requested by Queen Elizabeth II personally.
Alicia Keys, 41, shared a little behind-the-scenes video of her performance for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, 96, in London on Saturday.
In one scene, the singer reveals to her two sons that Queen Elizabeth II personally requested every song that the American performed in front of Buckingham Palace. “You can’t reject the Queen. It’s against the law in this country,” replies her 11-year-old, Egypt, ironically. So Keys performed “Superwoman”, “Girl on Fire”, “City of Gods (Part II) and “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broke Down”.
Moschino outfit and excitement
Keys can also be seen in the video meeting with the 80-piece orchestra or trying to decide between several Moschino outfits in her wardrobe. Ultimately, she chose an ensemble with gold detailing and a long cape, which she felt had a “royal, powerful vibe.” The singer is also amazed by the large-scale video projections on the palace: “I can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like,” says Keys. “It’s just going crazy.”
Ultimately, the Queen was unable to attend the concert in person due to health issues. According to “People”, she is said to have followed the spectacle from her television at Windsor Castle.
