US media are already talking about “Keeping Up With the Royals”: Harry and Meghan are currently working on their Netflix documentary – and also let the cameras into their private property. Not everyone is enthusiastic about that.
The deal is spectacular: Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are expected to collect $100 million from the Netflix streaming portal. In return, the two must produce series, documentaries and films for the platform through their production company “Archewell”.
The two exile royals haven’t delivered very much yet, but now things should get serious: As the celebrity magazine “Page Six” reports, the two are planning a docu-soap for which they also give the cameras access to their private rooms and will deliver very personal content.
The planned series should be a kind of “home with the prince and duchess”, revealed an insider. In allusion to the Kardashian-Jenner clan’s reality series, US media are already talking about “Keeping Up With the Royals”.
Harry and Meghan: There is still no date for the documentary
But what exactly will be shown in the documentary series is still in the stars. It is also unclear whether the children Archie and Lilibet will appear. However, viewers can almost certainly look forward to getting to know Harry and Meghan’s estate in Montecito, California.
It is already known that the couple was accompanied on their trip to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands a few weeks ago. Fans can look forward to pictures of the stay in Europe.
In the British royal family, on the other hand, the documentary series is viewed with skepticism. Because Harry and Meghan have announced themselves with their children for the Queen’s 70th anniversary celebrations. The palace now fears that the family might not come alone, but rather have camera crews in tow. That internal conversations and other private details from the monarch’s environment could be seen on Netflix in the future – unimaginable for royalists. That’s probably why Harry and Meghan were unloaded from the reception on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. If possible, nothing should leak out of the sacred halls.
However, it is doubtful whether the strategy will work. Because at the end of the year, Prince Harry’s biography is to be published. In it he can describe in words what is hidden from the Netflix cameras. The royal family will have to prepare for a restless winter.
