Sore thighs, blisters on your feet or painful indentations on your upper body: irritated areas are extremely painful. With the Summersaver, these skin problems should be a thing of the past. We tested the anti-chafing stick from “The Lion’s Den”.

Good ideas don’t always come from a whim, but from necessity: Denise Hahn, just 27 years old, has been suffering from a metabolic disease since 2018 – as a result she gained over 20 kilos within a short period of time. And not only that: In the warm summer months, she regularly suffered from sore thighs on the inside. After she was unable to find a viable solution to her (skin) problem, she developed her own product – the so-called Summersaver, an anti-chafing stick against skin irritation and chafing on sensitive skin areas.

It is suitable for inner thighs, bra contours and also for the feet – after all, blisters are also a form of wound friction. The same applies to sporting activities: Here, sore spots are not uncommon. For this reason, Denise has launched a second anti-chafing stick that is designed to protect the skin from irritation when cycling, trekking or jogging. Both variants have been dermatologically tested, contain no aluminum, are vegan, PEG-free and animal testing-free. They have nourishing ingredients such as allantoin and vitamin E, coconut and almond oil. The only difference lies in the scent: while the Summersaver is supposed to smell like peach, the Summersaver Sport smells like bergamot and mint. And brand new in the range is a limited edition that smells of cherry blossoms – based on the collaboration with Angelina Kirsch, the German curvy model.

But does the anti-chafing stick really help against skin irritation and chafing? We did the practice test.

Practical test: This is how the Summersaver is used

I’m 1.58m tall and would describe my figure as normal. Nevertheless, I know the problem of sore thighs: If I wear a dress during the day in summer and move a lot, for example on a city trip on vacation, the insides of my thighs are often red and painful in the evening. When jogging, on the other hand, I tend to have the problem that the sports bra cuts into the skin and irritates it. For this reason, I tested both versions of the anti-chafing stick for the star.

For the self-experiment, I first applied the Summersaver generously to the skin around the contours of the bra and on the inside of my thighs – and then went jogging. Later I tested the Summersaver Sport on my feet by spreading the balm around the balls of my feet and then wearing uncomfortable shoes that rubbed my heels and often led to painful blisters. What can I say? In fact, the anti-sore stick surprised me positively.

Conclusion: This is how the Summersaver performs

Shortly after applying the pleasant scent of the Summersaver hit my nose. It smells slightly sweet but not overpowering. On the skin itself, the balm acts like an invisible lubricating film that can be easily applied to any desired spot. While running, I immediately noticed that my thighs don’t rub against each other as they usually do. Rather, I had the feeling that the skin areas that are constantly touching gently slide past each other. After jogging, my skin looked the same, although the thin film had already set in. And under the chest, where the sports bra usually leaves red pressure points, there was almost nothing to see.

However, it was different on my feet: After applying the balm, my heels literally slipped out of the shoes. I didn’t get any blisters, but I still felt the painful pressure points. The anti-chafing stick did not convince me in this case – although I can imagine that the sports version works much better in combination with socks and running shoes. However, since I only tested them on bare feet in high heels, I can’t make a judgment here. All in all, the idea has definitely been implemented well and I’m already looking forward to summer!
