Parts of Germany were hit by severe storms at the weekend. At the start of the week, thunderstorms are brewing again, especially in the south. The maps show where.

After the storms of the weekend, the next low is just around the corner on Monday: Finja. According to the German Weather Service, the thunderstorm low from France first moves to the south-western half of Germany and causes thunderstorms there, some of them severe, before moving on to the north-east. By the evening, heavy gusts of wind, hail and heavy rain can be expected in the middle of the country. According to the DWD, severe thunderstorms with occasionally very heavy hail can also come from the Alps. Most likely to be affected are NRW, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.

As the “Wetter.de” portal reports, heavy rain fell in parts of NRW in the afternoon. Since this is moving on quickly, flooding is not to be expected. Lightning and thunder were initially mainly in southern Germany.
