The Queen has never laid eyes on Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s daughter Lilibet, despite it being her great-granddaughter. The Sussexes now want to change this and are celebrating the little ones’ first birthday in Great Britain.
The daughter of Meghan and Harry is named after the nickname of her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, but the two have not met before. This should change next weekend. On June 4th the little one will be one year old. The drop-out royals are planning to spend this birthday in Prince Harry’s home country of England.
Since their royal departure, there has been constant discussion about when the Sussexes would visit England as a family. Prince Harry felt it wasn’t safe enough for his family if he didn’t get the police protection that goes with it, just like in the old royal days. According to the British news site “Daily Mail”, the Brooksbanks are currently staying with the family so that the Sussexes can reside in the cottage.
Frogmore Cottage is also set to host little Lilibet’s 1st birthday party next Saturday. Queen Elizabeth II is also expected on this occasion. Harry and Meghan’s British home is in the grounds of Windsor Castle, the Queen’s residence.
Earlier last week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly told the Queen that they would be keeping a low profile during next weekend’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and only attending official events. They don’t want to steal the show from the Queen after the monarch is said to have “ordered” the family to get together with a request that they do so without “drama”.
Harry and Meghan will reportedly attend the service as well as the Trooping the Color parade. However, they are not supposed to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, nor is Prince Andrew.
