During a visit to Pakistan, Annalena Baerbock tested positive for Corona.

Annalena Baerbock (41, Greens) has apparently been infected with the corona virus. The German Foreign Minister tested positive for the virus during a trip abroad to Pakistan, as the Foreign Office announced on Twitter.

Annalena Baerbock noticed a loss of taste

Baerbock had “a positive rapid test after lunch today after noticing a loss of taste”. The 41-year-old politician had “tested herself consistently”. A previous test was negative that morning. All of the foreign minister’s scheduled appointments have now been cancelled. Afterwards Baerbock should go to Greece and Turkey.

“Good morning from Islamabad, Pakistan,” Baerbock had written in an Instagram story a few hours earlier. She had arrived and thanked her Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (33) for a “warm welcome”. Among other things, she spoke to him about the climate crisis and how the “pressure on the Taliban” could be increased. If, moreover, “the crisis in Afghanistan has disappeared from the front pages of the newspapers”, it will “continue to be our focus”. Pakistan was “affected by the effects of the crisis in Afghanistan like no other country”.
