The two renegade royals opened up to talk show host Oprah Winfrey in their new home in California and made serious allegations. Among other things, it was said that racist comments had been made in the Royal Family, Meghan had been denied medical help for suicidal thoughts and Duchess Kate had made her sister-in-law cry. Now the British press fears that another scandal could be discussed. The reason: Photos show Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan on their way to Oprah Winfrey’s house.
The couple is said to have paid the well-known presenter an hour-long visit on Saturday afternoon, as the “Daily Mail” reports. Winfrey lives in Montecito, California, just a five-minute drive from the Sussexes’ mansion. However, it is unclear whether the visit was of a private or professional nature. What is certain is that Winfrey and the Royals have been in contact for some time.
Oprah Winfrey also gets along well with Meghan’s mother
Shortly before Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, the talk show host asked for an interview, but Meghan had to turn it down due to palace rules. A private visit to London and an invitation to the wedding followed. Oprah Winfrey is also said to get along well with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. She has already been a guest at Winfrey’s estate. The two women did yoga together and ate kumquat fruit from the tree in Winfrey’s garden, as she later said.
But there are also business connections between Winfrey and the Royals, so Harry and Winfrey produced the documentary series “The Me You Can’t See” together for Apple, in which Harry spoke openly about processing his childhood trauma. Should another interview be due, Buckingham Palace would certainly be alarmed. After the March 2021 interview, the Queen was forced to make a rare comment. She was diplomatic at the time, and said in a statement that “some perceptions are a little different”, but that Harry and Meghan would remain beloved members of the royal family forever. Since then, there has been an ice age between Harry and his father Charles, as well as his brother William. He would certainly have had enough material for a conversation with Oprah.
