Barca need money to sign Robert Lewandowski. Are the Blaugrana even sacrificing their future figurehead?

In the course of FC Barcelona’s courtship of Bayern star Robert Lewandowski, LaLiga boss Javier Tebas spoke up. The 59-year-old does not currently consider a commitment from Poland to be realistic – and in view of Barca’s financial problems, he even initially talks about selling two top stars.

Tebas told Spanish agency Europa Press: “Barca already know what to do if they want to sign Lewandowski. The club knows our economic control rules very well. I don’t know if he will sell De Jong or Pedri. But Barca knows it needs to raise money and sell assets.”

Does FC Barcelona sacrifice Pedri for Lewandowski?

De Jong, who joined from Ajax for more than €85m two years ago, and Pedri are among Barcelona’s most notable players. The 19-year-old Spaniard in particular should actually become one of the figureheads of the club in the future. He extended his contract to 2026 just last year and his departure would come as a huge surprise.

Lewandowski is currently under contract with FC Bayern until 2023, but wants to leave the club this summer. Barcelona is considered the goal of the Polish striker, who would probably cost at least 30 million euros in addition to a lavish salary. Big money for the Catalans whose financial situation is tight.
