From one football hotspot to the next: Sébastien Haller is looking forward to the special atmosphere in the Dortmund stadium after moving from Ajax Amsterdam to BVB.

“It’s a great stadium, but the best stadium is nothing without its fans,” the 28-year-old was quoted as saying by Borussia. “I can hardly wait to be able to feel the support of more than 80,000 spectators as part of the BVB family. Hopefully we will achieve great things together in the coming years and then be able to celebrate together.”

Haller should at least partially close the gap at BVB that super striker Erling Haaland left after moving to Manchester City. The top scorer of last season in the Dutch Eredivisie with 21 goals receives the number 9 at BVB that Haaland last wore. He has scored 11 times in eight games in the Champions League in 2021/22.

“We are very pleased that in Sébastien Haller we were able to sign a seasoned center forward, who recently caused a sensation in the Champions League, but who also knows the Bundesliga in particular and has already proven his class and high quality of finish there,” said Dortmund’s sports director Sebastian Kehl. Haller successfully stormed for Eintracht Frankfurt from 2017 to 2019. He scored 24 goals in 60 Bundesliga games.
