The backsliding in London continues: Barely 48 hours in office, the new education minister resigns. Newly-appointed Treasury Secretary calls on Premier Johnson to resign.

British Finance Minister Nadhim Zahawi, who was appointed to office on Tuesday, has publicly called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to resign. “Prime Minister, in your heart you know what is right. Go now,” Zahawi wrote in a letter to Johnson published on Twitter on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the also new Minister of Education, Michelle Donelan, announced her resignation. “You have put us in an impossible position,” Donelan wrote in her resignation letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

More than 50 ministers and other members of the government have resigned since Tuesday evening in protest against Johnson and his administration.

More to come.
